Computational Biologist / Bioinformatician - AgTech Startup in Ness Ziona (3447)

We are seeking a talented Computational Biologist or Bioinformatician with expertise in protein engineering to join a dynamic team at a cutting-edge AgTech startup in Ness Ziona.

The ideal candidate will lead the company’s computational efforts, focusing on protein design and modeling protein-protein interactions, with a special emphasis on nanobody engineering. This role is central to developing biological pest control solutions for agriculture, utilizing advanced computational tools to design and optimize proteins for biotechnological applications.

Responsibilities:

• Design and engineer proteins computationally, focusing on nanobodies and their interactions with target proteins.
• Analyze and predict protein binding interactions using bioinformatics tools.
• Develop specific algorithms to address research questions and support ongoing projects.
• Collaborate closely with an expert consultant in the field, gaining guidance while contributing with independent knowledge and experience.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to optimize protein design for applications in agricultural pest management.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of protein structure, interactions, and computational methods for protein engineering.
• Proven experience in writing algorithms and software to address complex biological research questions.
• Experience working with protein databases and bioinformatics tools (e.g., Rosetta, AlphaFold, PDB, PyMOL, and other relevant software).
• In-depth understanding of protein-protein interactions, particularly in the context of protein design.
• Experience with molecular dynamics simulations, docking algorithms, and machine learning tools (a plus).
• Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
