Data Manager

One of our clients, a rapidly growing deep-tech startup specializing in infrastructure monitoring, is looking to hire a Senior Data Analytics Lead as the first data science function within the Product team.

• We are specifically looking for a data scientist with a strong background in analytics.
• Managerial experience is a must, as this role is expected to grow into a leadership position. (While team building is not guaranteed, it is highly likely to happen shortly.)

• For now, this is a 100% hands-on role. If a team is hired, responsibilities will shift accordingly.

Job Description

• Lead the analytics activities within the Product organization.
• Analyze large-scale, real-world datasets (70%), and deliver customer-facing reports and actionable insights.
• Improve and maintain models (30%), transforming technical data into strategic recommendations.
• Build the company’s Data Product offering, directly impacting customer experience and product direction.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, R&D, AI, and sales teams.
• Establish analytics infrastructure using Python, SQL, and MongoDB.
• Play a key role in hiring, mentoring, and eventually leading a team of data professionals.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (M.Sc./Ph.D. is an advantage).
• Proven managerial experience in leading data science or analytics teams.
• Strong skills in Python, SQL, and working with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Experience working with real-world, messy data and drawing clear business insights.
• Prior experience in a fast-moving, startup environment.
• Must have a focus on analytics
• Advantage: background in physics, optical fibers, signal processing, or practical machine learning.
