In this role, you will be part of a centralized data analytics community that fosters collaboration, continuous learning, and strong partnerships among analysts and data scientists. You will partner closely with Product Management and other cross-functional teams (Engineering, Design, Marketing) to accelerate growth across Shutterfly’s product experiences by deepening our understanding of user behavior, product performance, and key growth drivers. You will lead efforts to develop robust performance dashboards, conduct in-depth product analyses, and generate actionable insights that inform product strategy and roadmap decisions. Your work will help drive a culture of experimentation and data-informed product development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Managers to deliver insights on product usage, customer journeys, and feature performance, while serving as data expert and thought partner.
- Define analytics approaches to answer key product questions; retrieve, prepare, and analyze data to deliver actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests to evaluate product changes and new feature rollouts; partner with Product, Engineering, and UX teams to ensure experiments are statistically sound, actionable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Develop a deep understanding of relevant data sources and ensure product decisions are grounded in accurate and meaningful metrics.
- Establish and maintain measurement frameworks and KPIs for product initiatives; prototype and deliver reporting solutions; work with the Business Intelligence team to scale and automate dashboards.
- Stay current on best practices in product analytics, experimentation design, and emerging technologies to continuously elevate analytics capabilities.
- Build trusted relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure analytics are effectively integrated into the product development lifecycle.
- Enthusiasm for promoting data literacy and a growth mindset around analytics, experimentation, and product optimization.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL for querying large datasets in a modern cloud data environment (e.g., Snowflake, RedShift).
- Strong data storytelling skills with the ability to distill complex analyses into clear, compelling insights and visualizations.
- Expertise in Excel and experience building interactive dashboards in tools like Tableau or Power BI using data visualization best practices.
- Self-directed and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and establish scalable processes.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate data insights into business impact and influence product strategy.
- Solid foundation in analytical methodologies such as A/B testing, funnel analysis, cohort analysis, and attribution modeling.
- B.S. or M.S. in a quantitative field and 5+ years of experience in an analytical role, preferably supporting product teams.
