Tech Lead - LLM Development

We seek a Tech Lead with deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) to drive transformative AI solutions. Key Responsibilities

Hands-on development to design, implement, test, and deploy advanced algorithms to solve complex AI challenges, ensuring robustness and scalability in production environments.

Provide technical guidance and direction in LLM development, ensuring innovative and high-performing solutions.

Define and execute a technical roadmap aligned with BYO’s mission.

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless and scalable AI solutions.

Support team members by sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of innovation.

Stay at the forefront of advancements in AI to integrate cutting-edge methods into BYO’s offerings.

Tech Lead Responsibilities

Own people management, cross-team collaboration, and project management for a team of researchers.

Support direct reports as a people manager by conducting productive 1:1s, skillfully offering feedback, running performance management, facilitating tough but needed conversations, and modeling excellent interpersonal skills.

Coordinate with other teams to ensure researchers aren’t blocked and have the resources they need.

Ensure the team’s prioritization and work streams align with goals.

Manage day-to-day execution of the team’s work and act as a project management leader and counselor.

Unblock your reports when they are stuck and help them get whatever resources they need to be successful.

Work with the team to up-level their project management skills.

Coach and develop your reports to decide how they would like to advance in their careers and help them do so.

Run the team’s recruiting efforts in concert with the research lead.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience guiding algorithm or AI-focused teams, with proven experience in leading positions.

5+ years in LLM algorithm development.

Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and AI methodologies, especially PyTorch, Transformers library, Hugging Face sources, Weights & Biases, etc.

Proven ability to deliver scalable solutions under tight deadlines.

Strong skills in articulating complex technical concepts.

Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure) and a strong understanding of current LLM technologies and their business applications.

Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both business and technical teams.
