Job Description

Job Summary

The Video Editor is responsible for carrying out a range of duties.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Edits videos to targeted length and specifications.
• Handles and organizes raw and edited video files.
• Exports videos and facilitates mobile and web distribution.
• Participate in shoots of videos and produces content as necessary.
• Explores different versions and directions.
• Ensures compliance with highest industry standards.
• Adjusts formats and file sizes as needed.
• Edits audio and soundbites for projects.
• Edit photographs professionally for different clients and purposes.
• Edits photos and illustrations.
• Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience.
• Take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications.
• Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.
• Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects.
• Create rough and final cuts.
• Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running.
• Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process.
• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
• Any other tasks which might be assigned by the line manager.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Minimum 3 year of video editing and post-production experience
• Proficient in various non-linear video editing tools and other software (Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Adobe Illustration, Light room)
• Deep understanding of digital trends and editing principles
• Creative and innovative
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in arts, journalism or related field
• Proficiency in Dari, Pashto and English communication
