Job Description

We are seeking a Physics Ph.D. with strong hands-on experience in complex optical and laser systems to join our Hardware team. You will be working in the lab, designing, building, and optimizing cutting-edge coupled laser systems. The role requires understanding of imaging, Fourier optics, beam shaping, and laser theory, as well as creativity and a passion to realize innovative ideas in the lab.  

Key Responsibilities

·      Design, assemble, and align complex optical and laser setups in the lab.

·      Develop and execute experiments, analyze data, and iterate system improvements.

·      Play a key role in the development of prototypes for new optical configurations and laser applications.

·      Work independently and creatively to solve technical problems and innovate new solutions.

·      Collaborate with innovation and research teams to integrate optical systems into larger platforms.

Requirements

·      Ph.D. in Physics, or a related field, with a focus on lasers or complex optical systems.

·      At least 2 years of hands-on R&D experience in industry or as a postdoc, working with laser-related systems.

·      Strong hands-on skills with laser systems and ability to work independently in a lab environment.

·      Proven experience building, aligning, and troubleshooting advanced optical/laser systems.

·      Deep understanding of optics, laser theory, and experimental design.

·      Creative, resourceful, self-motivated and able to drive projects from concept to implementation.

·      Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·      Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred skills

·      Previous work in a startup or industrial R&D environment.

·      Knowledge of mechanical stability concepts, heat transfer and thermal management as they relate to laser systems.

·      Experience in working with Spatial Light Modulators (SLMs).

·      Knowledge in simulation and modelling for experimental design.

·      Fluency in Python.

·      Familiarity with photonic integration or advanced optical architectures.
