As Advanced Technology Scientist, you support metrology and inspection developments from Bruker Nano Surfaces & Metrology “BNSM” Division. BNSM is the leader in automated atomic force microscopy (AAFM) and advanced X-ray metrology and inspection tools for the silicon and compound semiconductor industries. The division offers the most comprehensive portfolio tools based on X-ray technologies including XRR (X-ray reflectometry), XRF (X-ray fluorescence), XRD (X-ray diffraction), XRDI (X-ray diffraction imaging), XCD® (X-ray critical dimension scatterometry) and others. The X-ray business unit is based in Migdal Ha’Emek, Israel with R&D facilities in Durham UK as well as sales and support offices and representatives worldwide.
We are looking for someone who has a proven background in Machine Learning. You should be an engineer or scientist who has the creativity, desire and skills to work on cutting edge measurement technology. Ideally, we would like a candidate who has in-depth knowledge of the industrial applications of advanced Machine Learning algorithms such as Deep Learning for regression and detection/classification. You will work closely with our dedicated team of scientists, engineers, and other members of the team to solve complex problems and create the next generation of innovative solutions for our customers. In addition to experience and knowledge, curiosity and passion will help you to be successful in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead or participate in projects in the field of Machine and Deep Learning for X-ray-based metrology and inspection applications, from the data science & research stage through demonstration of feasibility, experimenting with alternative methods to the deployment and maintenance of the solution
- Collaboration with the applications, engineering, and marketing teams to understand customer challenges, propose and implement creative solutions
- Keep updated on the latest relevant research that is relevant to your day-to-day work
- Prepare and present work to peers and management
- Contribute to technical articles and customer / conference presentations
- Prepare disclosures of new inventions
- Participate in Israeli and EU consortia projects
- Able to travel occasionally (10%), including international travel
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong skills in developing, deploying and supporting custom Deep Learning software solutions
- Solid understanding of neural network architectures (e.g. CNNs, RNNs, transformers) and their underlying mathematics
- Fluency in Python, one or more of Keras / Tensorflow / Pytorch.
- Proficiency in one or more of C++/ C# / .NET programming an advantage.
- Proficiency with containerization and deployment tools (e.g., Docker, Triton, Kubernetes)
- Experience with MLOps or CI/CD pipelines for ML solutions is a strong plus
- Able to learn new technical concepts efficiently and deeply
- Self-starter with high level of productivity and strong sense of ownership
- Goal oriented with good track record of achieving targets
- Ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects
- Innovative, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve shared goals, but also equally comfortable working independently when required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with internal and external customers across different backgrounds and cultures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills English required with and Hebrew/Russian an advantage
Knowledge and experience in in one, or more, of the following areas would be a distinct advantage:
- Building industrial Deep Learning systems particularly for process control applications.
- Relevant publications / conference presentations in machine learning and related fields.
- Prior experience in the semiconductor industry.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or a related science / engineering field with 3+ years of experience design, development and deployment of deep learning algorithms for real-world applications including implementation
- Or M.Sc. with 8+ years of relevant experience
