We're seeking an innovative Cyber Innovation Specialist who can bridge research and industry expertise to shape our security future.

Your hands-on technical experience and potential background in academic research or R&D will be instrumental in developing innovative approaches to complex security challenges.

In this role, you'll connect with the cybersecurity market, understand advanced technologies, support Bayer's cybersecurity teams, and lead the business toward greater security through innovation. You'll work with our experienced squad to identify and implement cutting-edge security solutions, ensuring Bayer stays at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation while protecting our critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Innovation: Partner with academic institutions to drive early-stage research in areas relevant to Bayer's strategic interests; apply research methodologies to evaluate emerging security technologies; bring analytical thoroughness and precision to research-based approaches for security decisions.

Stay Informed: Keep up with emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies, independently research new technologies, understand current trends, and offer proactive recommendations for security measures.

Security Solutions Development: Utilize our comprehensive Security Controls Framework to specify security solutions across various technical domains, including network, cloud, application, OT, and data security.

Tailored Cybersecurity Solutions: Identify and implement customized cybersecurity solutions to mitigate specific threats, ensuring integration with existing IT infrastructure and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Support Organizational Tech Strategy: Identify innovative cybersecurity solutions, optimize security processes, and recommend emerging technologies that align with business objectives and enhance security posture.

Promote 'Security by Default': Contribute to the development of Security Standards and best practices, making secure business practices the easiest option.

Technical Guidance: Provide expert advice to engineering and development teams on secure system design, configuration, and implementation.

Unified Cybersecurity Approach: Collaborate across Bayer to promote a cohesive cybersecurity strategy, potentially leading initiatives focused on innovative security solutions.

Innovative Technology Relationships: Build connections within the cybersecurity technology landscape, including academic institutions and startups, to explore innovative solutions that align with Bayer's objectives.

Proof of Value Execution: Conduct technical evaluations of key technology products and communicate findings to support strategic decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement: Understand and address stakeholder pain points, identifying innovative technologies to develop effective solutions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Ideal Background: We require proven hands-on cybersecurity experience, and particularly value candidates who have:

• Experience in academic or research environments
• Published papers or conducted research in cybersecurity
• Participated in security research projects or R&D initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to translate research concepts into practical solutions

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).

Experience: 8+ years in cybersecurity, with strong hands-on technical experience required.

Certifications: Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or those recognized by the NCSC are highly valued.

Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, IT infrastructure, and network architecture with demonstrated hands-on capabilities.

Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey cybersecurity concepts and solutions to diverse stakeholders. Ability to present and write technical reports for stakeholders and cybersecurity leadership.

Creative Problem-Solving: Strong critical and creative thinking skills to tackle complex cybersecurity challenges. Must be quick-thinking, proactive, think outside the box, and work independently.

Framework Familiarity: Knowledge of relevant cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST, NIS2, GDPR, CIISec Skills Framework and NCSC guidelines.

Specialized Experience: Extensive hands-on experience in security implementation across areas such as Network Security, Cloud Security, Data Security, and OT security.

Language Skills: Fluent English required, both written and verbal.

Enterprise Experience: Preference for candidates with experience in global enterprise environments.
