LayerX is seeking a Software Engineering Team Leader to build and lead a new team from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to define the team’s vision, hire and mentor top talent, and drive the execution of one of LayerX’s most impactful initiatives.
As the owner of the team’s roadmap, quality, execution, and velocity, you will collaborate closely with product, security, and engineering leadership to develop high-quality, scalable solutions. Reporting directly to the VP of R&D, you will also contribute to strategic company-wide projects and influence LayerX’s long-term technology direction.

Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a high-performing software engineering team from scratch.
- Own roadmap and vision, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Hire, mentor, and develop engineers, fostering technical excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Take full ownership of team execution, ensuring high-quality, secure, and scalable software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Security, and DevOps, to deliver impactful solutions.
- Contribute to architectural and strategic decisions, balancing innovation with reliability.
- Empower engineers with autonomy, guiding them toward technical and professional growth.
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying and implementing best practices in development, operations, and team dynamics
- Servant Leadership: Act as a facilitator, ensuring the team has everything they need to succeed. Remove roadblocks, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative culture.
- Transformational Leadership: Set a compelling vision, inspire engineers to push boundaries, and drive innovation while maintaining technical excellence.
- Mentorship & Growth-Oriented Leadership: Invest in team members’ development, nurturing future leaders and fostering a mindset of continuous learning.
- 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineering Team Leader in a SaaS company.
- 5+ years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer in a SaaS company.
- Proven experience leading teams in a cloud-native environment, with a focus on microservices, distributed systems, and high-scale applications.
- Strong technical background in AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development frameworks.
- Exceptional mentorship and leadership skills, with a track record of growing engineers into strong contributors and leaders.
- Ability to balance technical depth with high-level strategic thinking, driving both execution and vision.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
