Database Administrator

Sheba Medical Center is looking for a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with deep expertise in SQL Server, experience in cloud environments (GCP and Azure), and strong hands-on capabilities in both on-premise and hybrid infrastructures.

This role involves managing, maintaining, optimizing, and securing databases across multiple platforms, including SQL Server, MongoDB, Oracle, and more. The DBA will lead the design, implementation, and administration of robust database solutions with a focus on performance, security, high availability, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

·Administer and maintain SQL Server databases across cloud (GCP, Azure) and on-premise environments.

·Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for both cloud and local databases.

·Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and statistics analysis.

·Monitor performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and optimize queries across environments.

·Manage user access, permissions, and implement security protocols.

·Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine DBA tasks.

·Participate in cloud migration and on-premise migration projects.

·Collaborate closely with development, infrastructure, and security teams.

·Ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, etc.

·Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and environments.

·Stay updated on new technologies, especially cloud-native database tools and services.

Requirements

·5+ years of experience as a DBA, with a strong focus on SQL Server – required.

·Proven experience with Google Cloud (GCP) and Microsoft Azure – including cloud-native database management.

·Demonstrated success in migrating databases from on-premise to Azure.

·Hands-on experience with local (on-premise) database infrastructure.

·Deep familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., Cloud SQL, Azure SQL Database).

·Strong SQL skills and performance optimization expertise.

·Knowledge of backup, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery strategies.

·Experience scripting with PowerShell or Python and using automation tools.

·Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to performance across environments.

·Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

·High proficiency in English – spoken and written.

·Experience with additional databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) – a strong advantage.
