About Us

The Azrieli National Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment Research (ANCAN) is a pioneering interdisciplinary research center based at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, in collaboration with Soroka Medical Center. Founded in 2015, ANCAN is home to Israel’s first regional autism database, collecting clinical, behavioral, genetic, imaging, and other data from children with autism and their families.

Our mission is to establish Israel as a global leader in autism research, diagnostics, and treatment.

Role Description

We are looking for a talented Bioinformatician to join our genetics team, focusing on large-scale exome sequencing analysis of Israeli families with autism. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the frontier of autism research, combining genetic data with clinical and behavioral insights.

• Developing, maintaining, and improving protocols and methods for exome sequence analysis and data interpretation.
• Leading genomic/bioinformatics research projects based on exome data, including study design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
• Providing bioinformatics support to researchers and students at the center.
• Establishing collaborations with genetic research groups in Israel and internationally.
• Contributing to the writing of grant proposals for various relevant funding sources.
• Delivering lectures to make scientific knowledge accessible to parents, clinicians, policymakers, and the general public.
• Participating in national and international conferences and presenting research findings at these events.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Genetics, or Computer Science
• Proven programming skills in Python, Matlab, R, Java, or similar programming languages
• Previous experience in genomic sequence analysis
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Prior experience in scientific writing and grant proposals – an advantage
