Each year, through our Tel Aviv facility, Hamakom reaches thousands through immersive learning programs, chavruta-style study, inspiring lectures, cultural events, workshops, and a vibrant student scholarship program. We proudly bridge tradition with creativity, fostering honest dialogue and building personal and communal connections to Jewish heritage.

Now, Hamakom is entering an exciting phase of expansion. With plans for a capital campaign to renovate our historic home, Beit Ohel Shem, and a vision to expand our community tenfold, we are seeking a mission-aligned, results-driven Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead our global fundraising efforts and help us achieve this transformative vision. This is a full-time leadership position based in Tel Aviv.

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will play a critical leadership role in advancing Hamakom’s mission by developing and executing a comprehensive international fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on North America and Europe. This includes securing major philanthropic partnerships, expanding our global network, and ensuring sustainable funding for both our capital campaign and annual operations.

This role requires an entrepreneurial, self-starting professional who can build a vibrant community of supporters in major Jewish population centers and help establish the infrastructure for a formal U.S. presence, including forming a U.S. Board of Directors, registering a 501(c)(3), and creating a sustainable donor stewardship structure.

Strategic Fundraising Leadership:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to support annual operations and the capital campaign for Beit Ohel Shem. Identify and secure major gifts and endowed gifts from high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic partners.

Donor Cultivation & Community Building:

• Build and manage a portfolio of major donors, primarily in North America and Europe. Establish a U.S.-based Board of Directors and fundraising infrastructure. Represent Hamakom’s mission and foster deep, long-term donor relationships.

Organizational Growth Enablement:

• Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Israeli Board to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s strategic vision. As success is demonstrated, recruit and manage a development team.

International Engagement:

• Represent Hamakom internationally, committing to at least 6-8 donor engagement visits annually across major Jewish communities in North America and Europe.

• Minimum 5-7 years of successful major gift fundraising experience, preferably with Jewish identity programs.
• Demonstrated success in securing significant gifts and building long-term donor relationships.
• Native-level written and verbal English and conversational fluency in Hebrew.
• Exceptional interpersonal, storytelling, and presentation skills.
• Deep familiarity with the Religious Zionist world and a genuine commitment to inclusion and respect for diverse Jewish communities.
• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, able to work independently while collaborating with leadership.
