React Tech Lead

Do you love creating user interfaces that people enjoy, planning and building interactions so intuitive they are almost subconscious? We are seeking an experienced frontend software engineer to join us in building a SAAS platform that makes cloud costs simple to understand.

We have a powerful, sophisticated and fast query-engine in the backend, written in Rust, and the frontend mission is to make it accessible and instinctive to users. We want FinOps professionals, DevOps teams and engineering managers to use our platform to understand their cloud costs and take impactful actions to optimize their spend.

Showcasing our engine’s complex capabilities in an easy-to-understand UI is an ongoing quest we are dedicated to. We believe that managing, forecasting and planning cloud costs should and can be easier.

Our product already supports millions of dollars in monthly cloud expenditure and our paying customer base continues to expand each month.

As an engineer working on Pelanor’s UI, you will:

• Work with a helpful and experienced team to design, build, and improve our platform’s frontend
• Read and write code in TypeScript, using React, Tailwind and NextJS
• Shape our codebase architecture to enable efficient feature development
• Grow and apply your understanding of the cost aspect of cloud services
• Contribute to the reliability and congruency of the UI by designing for failure and writing meaningful tests
• Give your colleagues attentive, generous code reviews to maintain production-grade code

You will thrive in this role if you:

• Have experience working with React and an intrinsic understanding of its fundamentals
• Enjoy shaping user interfaces and interactions beyond implementing a given spec
• Seek understanding of cloud costs domain knowledge and learn the context of our users’ problems
• Have previously held an influential position in a frontend team, taking a meaningful part in architectural and product decision making
• Believe in documenting your thought process for both current colleagues and your own future self
• Recognize opportunities to improve development processes and proactively act on these opportunities
• Communicate effectively with product managers, backend engineers and designers
