Role Description

We are looking for a highly experienced, execution-focused leader to take ownership of all pre-clinical, CMC, and IND-enabling activities.

The VP of R&D will play a mission-critical role in driving OrthoTreat’s lead program through regulatory submission and clinical readiness, managing external partners, and ensuring alignment between science, clinical, and business strategy. We are looking for individuals with 10+ years of pharma R&D leadership experience, who thrive in hands-on, lean environments, know how to lead teams and vendors, and get things done.

Responsibilities

• Lead all pre-clinical R&D and IND-enabling activities, including CMC, formulation, pharmacology, toxicology, PK/PD, and safety and efficacy studies.
• Manage and coordinate external CROs, CDMOs, Regulatory Affairs, consultants, and scientific partners.
• Oversee the development and execution of the IND technical package.
• Ensure quality, compliance, and data integrity in all R&D operations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Chief Business Officer.
• Align scientific execution with clinical development strategy and market needs.
• Support regulatory filings, investor updates, and partnership activities.
• Own R&D budgeting, timelines, risk management, and reporting.

Requirements & Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent advanced degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in pharma R&D leadership roles.
• Proven track record leading pre-clinical development programs through IND submission.
• Direct experience managing CMC, pharmacology, toxicology, safety and efficacy studies.
• Strong understanding of FDA, EMA, and global regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage CROs, CDMOs, external partners, and budgets.
• Skilled in cross-functional collaboration between R&D, clinical, regulatory, and commercial teams.
• Experience in bone regeneration, musculoskeletal, or regenerative medicine (advantage).
