Senior Research Software Engineer, Machine Learning, Multimodal Factuality

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with computer vision, imaging, or augmented reality platforms.
• Experience with ML/AI algorithms and tools, deep learning or natural language processing.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Experience in Machine Learning in the field of multimodality, or related fields like Computer Vision, or Video/Image Processing.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience in a technical leadership role.
• Ability to understand research, bring insights and ideas to improve the team models and technology.

In this role, you will develop models for automatic evaluation of text/image, text/video alignment, image/image frame/frame consistency in image sequence, and video generation. You will apply these models for improving multimodal generation including caption generation, image and video generation, and multimodal instruction following.

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Develop models and techniques for measuring and improving the alignment of video, text and image, and text models. Keep up with academic publications and bring ideas into Google products.
