The RoleWe’re looking for a Senior Lead Engineer to join as one of our first hires and help architect, build, and scale SK8’s core product.

You'll work closely with the founders, define our technical path, and have the opportunity to shape the company’s DNA.

Expect hands-on development, architectural decision-making, and the chance to lead and grow the engineering team as we scale.

• What You’ll DoArchitect and build critical systems from zero: backend, data pipelines, scalable cloud infrastructure
• Solve complex distributed systems challenges — low latency, high throughput, high availability
• Lead technical decisions across the stack: backend services, devops, cloud infra, protocols
• Code hands-on while setting engineering standards for the company
• Work directly with the founders on product and technical strategy
• Help build and mentor the next wave of SK8’s engineering team
• What We’re Looking For8+ years of backend or system architecture experience in high-scale environments
• Hands-on experience designing and building distributed systems
• Deep knowledge of cloud architectures (AWS preferred) and DevOps practices
• Strong coding skills in languages like Java, Scala, Kotlin, or Python
• Familiarity with real-world data-heavy applications, event-driven systems, and microservices
• Ability to balance short-term shipping with long-term architectural integrity
• Startup mindset: hands-on, proactive, adaptable, loves to learn
• A strong "owner" mentality — you like to lead, not just execute
• Bonus PointsExperience in data infrastructure, streaming architectures, or enterprise-grade systems
• Passion for AI, automation, and the future of intelligent applications
