Data Engineer Lead

Clalit Innovation is Clalit's dedicated innovation arm, where we develop products and publish research that save people's lives.

We are building a high-performing platform team to help our data scientists move fast, safely, and at scale. We're looking for a hands-on Lead Data Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team consisting of data engineering, DevOps, and MLOps professionals. Who you are:

• 5 + years of hands-on experience in data engineering with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
• You have hands-on experience with relevant data engineering tools and frameworks like Spark, Airflow, Kafka, dbt, Flink, and Iceberg.
• Strong Knowledge of data warehousing, ETLs, and distributed systems.
• Proficient in Python and SQL: experience with shell scripting and other programming languages is a plus.
• Good understanding of containerization technologies (e.g.,Docker, Kubernetes).
• Comfortable working with cloud and on-prem environments.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

What you'll do:

• Lead and grow a team of data infrastructure experts (data engineers, DevOps, MLOps).
• Design and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support ML and analytics workflows.
• Collaborate with data scientists to streamline the path from experimentation to production.
• Ensure infrastructure is secure, observable, and maintainable.
• Oversee implementation of best practices for data management, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.

Nice to have:

• Experience working with healthcare or clinical data
• Familiarity with Openshift and Red Hat AI.
• Experience in cybersecurity.
• Open-source contributions.
