NPI & Product Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for a highly motivated NPI & Product Engineer to join our mission of transforming the world of fleet and asset visibility. In this role, you’ll be the operational backbone of our hardware products – managing every detail from BOMs and ECOs to supplier coordination and production documentation. You’ll work closely with R&D, QA, and manufacturing partners to ensure our devices are designed for scale, built for reliability, and documented for clarity. This position reports directly to the Head of Operations.

What You’ll Do

• Take ownership of transferring hardware products from R&D to mass production, ensuring readiness across documentation, testing, and manufacturability (100K’s a year).
• Own and manage the full product structure (BOMs, revisions, and documentation) across all hardware SKUs
• Drive the ECO (Engineering Change Order) process – from initiation to implementation – including impact analysis, versioning, and supplier coordination
• Develop and maintain assembly instructions, mechanical drawings, and test protocols for both prototyping and mass production
• Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and QA to ensure DFM/DFA best practices
• Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities, including first-article reviews, validation builds, and continuous improvement processes
• Interface with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and logistics partners to ensure manufacturability and quality
• Maintain engineering master data in PLM/ERP systems
• Support internal fixture development and coordinate product-level testing as needed

What You Bring

Must-Haves:

• 4+ years of experience in hardware/product engineering, preferably in startups or consumer electronics
• Hands-on experience managing BOMs, ECOs, assembly guides, and mechanical documentation
• Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and generating production-ready drawings
• Familiarity with mechanical/electromechanical assembly and testing
• Structured, process-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
• Fluent English – both technical and conversational

Nice-to-Haves:

• Background in IoT, GPS, or embedded hardware
• Experience scaling hardware from prototype to mass production
• Basic scripting/automation skills (e.g., Python, Arduino)
