Data Engineer & Researcher

We’re looking for a Software Development Researcher with strong data engineering skills to join TeamUP—a big-data Software Engineering Intelligence Platform helping 1,000+ R&D teams at AT&T continuously improve.

TeamUP transforms raw data from the software development lifecycle (code, user stories, pipelines, scanning tools) into actionable insights that optimize engineering workflows, improve code quality, and enhance team productivity. Your research will uncover patterns in how developers write code, collaborate, and deliver software—helping shape the future of software development at AT&T.

What You’ll Do

· Research software development practices across teams to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

· Build and maintain data pipelines that process large-scale engineering datasets.

· Analyze development workflows using SQL, Python, and data modeling techniques.

· Conduct experiments and statistical analysis to measure the impact of interventions.

· Work closely with engineering leadership to define best practices and influence decision-making.

· Explore new technologies and methodologies to enhance software development intelligence.

What You Bring

· 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or research focused on software development.

· Strong SQL skills, including writing complex, optimized queries.

·Proficiency in Python and data-processing tools.

· Experience with ETL processes, cloud-based data pipelines, and scalable architecture.

· Experience in data visualization tools, such as PowerBI, Tablea

· A research-oriented mindset—able to identify patterns, generate insights, and drive actionable recommendations.

·Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate data insights into strategic decisions.

· A self-starter, eager to explore new technologies and improve engineering workflows.
