The Senior Underwriter is responsible for evaluating merchant applications by thoroughly researching and validating the accuracy of submitted information and documentation. They assess the legitimacy of the merchant’s business model and sales practices, ensuring alignment with internal policies and external regulatory guidelines.
The Senior Underwriter is a full-time position reporting directly to the Underwriting Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate incoming applications from internal teams to verify their accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established procedures and guidelines.
- Review merchant applications and making approval or rejection decisions while clearly explaining any outstanding issues.
- Analyze relevant data to assess and determine the potential risk level associated with each merchant.
- Track the status of ongoing applications and create scheduled reports to reflect all open cases and their status.
2.Collaboration:
- Maintain contact with partners as well as internal stakeholders and facilitating in achieving a favorable outcome for applications.
3.Compliance and Regulations:
- Stay informed about industry regulations, laws, and standards to ensure that all underwriting decisions comply with legal requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in underwriting or compliance, preferably within the FinTech industry.
- A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business or a related field -an advantage.
- High level of English: speaking, reading & writing
- Ability to assess complex data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions based on the analysis.
- Attentive to Details
- Knowledge of Industry Regulations: Understanding of legal and regulatory standards affecting underwriting processes.
