Embedded Software Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Linux Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing Linux kernel drivers, maintaining the Board Support Package (BSP), modifying U-Boot, and managing Yocto-based embedded Linux distributions.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should be proficient in low-level firmware development, real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, and device driver integration.

You will play a critical role in system bring-up, real-time system optimization, and ensuring a robust, scalable embedded software environment.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based primarily in Rehovot, Park HaMada, conveniently located next to the train station.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, and optimize custom Linux kernel drivers for embedded systems.
• Configure and maintain BSP layers for various embedded Linux distributions.
• Integrate and test new SoCs, PMICs, and peripheral interfaces with the Linux kernel.
• Enable support for new hardware features, memory mapping, and boot configurations.
• Develop and maintain Yocto-based build systems for embedded devices.
• Integrate custom applications, real-time device drivers, kernel modules, and security patches into Yocto images.
• Develop and debug custom board initialization sequences.
• Modify and optimize U-Boot bootloader for custom embedded platforms.
• Optimize low-power modes, task scheduling, and interrupt handling for real-time performance.
• Work with MCUs (STM32, ESP32, NXP, TI, Microchip, etc.) to implement bootloaders, peripheral control, and communication protocols.
• Profile and optimize Linux kernel, bootloader and user-space applications for performance and efficiency.
• Regularly update and improve Yocto recipes and BSP layers.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded Linux development.
• Strong experience with Linux device drivers and kernel development.
• Proficiency in Yocto, OpenEmbedded, and BSP customization.
• Experience with U-Boot bootloader modification and debugging.
• Strong understanding of ARM Cortex-A/M, RISC-V, or other embedded architectures.
• Experience with RTOS-based development (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, etc.).
• Expertise in C, C++, and Shell scripting.
• Knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIeUSB,, etc.).
• Experience with secure boot, TPM, and encryption mechanisms.
• Familiarity with networking stacks, IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP.
• Familiarity with automotive, robotics, or mmW radar applications (advantage).
