Temporary Social Media Content Creator (June–August)

Join our science-focused non-profit research initiative as a Temporary Social Media Content Creator for three months, from June to August. The role is less-than-part-time (approximately three social posts and one blog post per week) and offers a flexible schedule. Success in this position means delivering engaging, scientifically accurate content that resonates with our audience, strengthens our online presence, and aligns with our organizational mission.

Responsibilities 

- Create three weekly posts on various science-related topics, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and our initiative's tone of voice.

- Develop new and engaging post ideas each week, ensuring content remains relevant and aligned with our initiative's mission.

- Convert one social media post per week into a blog post, effectively adapting short-form content for longer-form storytelling.

- Use Canva to develop a graphic for each post that complements the written content and aligns with the initiative's visual language.

- Work closely with colleagues to refine messaging, integrate feedback, and maintain a consistent brand voice.  

- Plan posts in advance to align with organizational milestones and ensure timely, balanced updates across platforms.  

Qualifications

- Proven experience in a similar role, with a portfolio or samples of past work.  

- Ability to write clear, compelling blog posts from existing social media content.

- Comfortable working with Canva and other writing tools such as ChatGPT

- Science background not required, but must be able to comprehend and convey scientific content accurately.  

- Strong creativity and an eye for new, engaging post ideas.  

- Flexible availability for spontaneous team collaboration and communication throughout the day.
