Software Engineering Team Lead

We are seeking a Software Engineering Team Lead to guide a team of highly skilled Software Engineers and Data Scientists. In this role, you will take ownership of end-to-end development processes, drive innovation, and provide technical leadership through mentorship, coaching, and hands-on problem-solving.

Your responsibilities will include shaping the technical direction, influencing design and architecture decisions, and fostering a culture of high-quality software development by implementing best practices. You will also play a key role in identifying opportunities for team growth and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with software developers and business analysts to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain our products, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Software Engineers, both backend and full-stack developers including Data Scientists, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
• Drive the technical direction of the team, making strategic design and architecture decisions.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software.
• Implement and advocate for best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Verify and own system uptime, reliability, and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in development processes, team collaboration, and technical performance.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, product managers, and stakeholders, to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Facilitate a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and proactive problem-solving.
• Monitor and manage team performance, providing constructive feedback and fostering a positive work environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Fullstack development experience
• 3+ years of experience as a Team Lead of a large team of Software Engineers
• Experience working in startup companies
• Proven experience building production systems at scale in a high-level programming language (preferably Python).
• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS or GCP.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Streaming, Hive, Hadoop, Dask, Map-Reduce, etc. - advantage
• Experience leading engineers across the stack (Backend Engineers, Data) and leading data scientists- advantage
