BlueBird Aero Systems is a leading developer and manufacturer of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). We are expanding our Flight Sciences department and seeking an experienced Aerospace Engineer to lead various aeronautical matters related to fixed-wing, hybrid UAVs (VTOL) and loitering munition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aeronautical Design: Supporting aircraft design, including aerodynamic configuration, performance calculations, and ensuring performance compliance.
- Propulsion and Energy Systems Design: Selecting propellers, motors, and energy sources for both hovering and flight systems.
- Flight Testing: Leading flight experiments, analyzing results, planning and evaluating flight performance.
- Engineering Documentation: Writing technical justification documents.
- Control Systems: Developing and calibrating flight control systems, including target tracking and ballistic calculations for payload deployment.
Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Flight Sciences, including aerodynamics, simulations, and flight control.
- Experience in aerodynamic design – preferably with VTOL UAVs.
- Proficiency in using tools such as CFD for flow calculations.
- Experience in validating aerodynamic models using flight test data and model identification tools such as CIFER.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Advantages:
- Background in implementing and testing flight control algorithms.
- Experience in C/C++ or Python development.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Matlab/Simulink.
- Familiarity with integration of IMU, GPS, navigation cameras, and related systems.
