Ir Amim is seeking an East Jerusalem Research Associate

Ir Amim is seeking a full-time (100%) East Jerusalem Research Associate to join the organization’s Policy Advocacy Department. The applicant should have close familiarity with Palestinian society in general, and with East Jerusalem communities in particular, including social, communal, research, and gender-related dimensions.

Ir Amim is a non-profit organization which focuses exclusively on Jerusalem within the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Ir Amim’s mission is to render Jerusalem a more equitable and sustainable city for the Israelis and Palestinians who share it, while working to advance conditions for an agreed political future and secure equal rights for all.

Primary Responsibilities

• Field work, data collection and analysis
• Ability to conduct in-depth analysis of trends in East Jerusalem
• Extensive and deep connections with key societal and communal figures in East Jerusalem
• Conducting studies, writing short briefs as well as in-depth reports
  
  

• Identification with Ir Amim's goals and deep commitment to human rights.
• Mother-tongue Arabic. Fluency in English and/or Hebrew, with advanced proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
• Close and in-depth familiarity with Palestinian society in general, and with East Jerusalem neighborhoods in particular, including social, community, research, and gender-related dimensions.
• Preferably proven experience of at least 3 years in research and fieldwork. Prior employment experience in research institutes or similar civil society organizations an advantage
• Strong knowledge of politics and current affairs, both nationally and locally (specifically in Jerusalem)
• Relevant degree an advantage
• Residence in Jerusalem
