Head of Hardware Engineering

As Head of Hardware Engineering, you will lead the development of Sapios’ wearable platform—integrating sensors, edge compute, and communications into a rugged, battlefield-ready form factor. You will own the full hardware stack, from architecture and component selection to prototyping and field testing. This is a hands-on, high-impact role in an early-stage startup, where you’ll shape the core human-machine interface that delivers real-time AI support for warfighters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead design, development, and integration of the hardware platform, including sensor fusion, edge compute, communications, power management, and ruggedization
• Collaborate with product and software/AI to ensure seamless hardware-software integration fit for the battlefield
• Support field testing with operators and iterative refinement based on operational feedback
• Select and manage suppliers and manufacturing partners

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in hardware or systems engineering
• Strong experience with board design, embedded systems, sensors, and wearables
• Experience with full-cycle product development, from prototype to testing and production

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Proficient with sensor integration, power optimization, and low-latency processing
• Proficient with embedded Linux, ARM-based systems, and PCB design
• Experience with AI accelerators (e.g. NVIDIA Jetson Nano) and edge AI systems
• Familiarity with 4G/5G or mesh radios and secure embedded architectures
• Experience building for rugged or military-standard environments
• Prior military service or deep understanding of tactical user needs is a strong plus

LOCATION:

This is a hybrid role and applicants must be able to commute to the office in Tel Aviv, Israel.
