Senior System Engineer

As a Senior System Engineer you will be responsible for delivering IT infrastructure solutions, integrating products, and configuring operating systems and third-party software across various projects. You will work in an international setting, ensuring the quality of deliverables and supporting the development of technical solutions for GE Grid Software.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with technical architects and end users to implement infrastructure solutions across multiple projects.
• Serve as the lead IT System contact for project delivery, ensuring quality.
• Lead the implementation of Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Linux technologies.
• Contribute to project planning, testing, training, and support.
• Translate architecture documents into design and configuration specifications.
• Maintain detailed technical knowledge of system operations and diagnostics.
• Perform system management tasks, including monitoring, troubleshooting, backup management, and system upgrades.
• Support local Data Center maintenance and collaborate with system & network engineering teams.
• Contribute to platform activities with Platform engineers.

Qualifications:

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science with prior experience in systems engineering.
• Fluency in English and French.
• Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design and implementation.
• Strong communication skills, commitment, and positive attitude.
• Customer-facing experience with flexibility to travel as needed.
• Significant experience with Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows Server, including Active Directory Group Policies.
• In-depth experience with clustering, encryption, and virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of infrastructure security, networking, and storage area networks.
• Familiarity with ITIL and change management policies.

Desirable:

• Experience with VMware products (ESX, vSphere, vCenter, etc.).
• Experience in scripting and automation tools.
• Knowledge of monitoring technologies and best practices.
