Commitment: One class per week for at least 14-16 consecutive weeks

Organization Background:

Founded in 2004, The African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) is a grassroots community-based non-profit organization based in Tel Aviv, aiming to promote economic and social inclusion for refugees and asylum seekers in Israel. With over 800 program participants every year and 10,000 asylum seekers assisted to date, ARDC works to provide access to educational and employment opportunities, with the goal of bolstering social mobility and economic growth.

Position Overview:

We’re seeking an Hebrew Teacher to help adult learners improve their language skills, enabling them to pursue educational, personal, and professional goals. This role involves creating an engaging, inclusive classroom that fosters growth and confidence in Hebrew language proficiency. A classroom, materials, as well as training will be provided to the teacher.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate class one day per week from 7-9pm.

Teach Hebrew to adult learners according to the syllabus.

Develop materials based on the syllabus/textbook.

Implement Explicit Direct Instruction pedagogy in classroom instruction.

Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and additional support when necessary.

Attend monthly trainings.

Qualifications:

Relevant academic study or background - Strongly recommended

Teaching or tutoring experience - Required

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, accessible terms.

Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity to work effectively with students from various backgrounds.
