Consultant - Molecular Biology

We are seeking a superstar molecular biologist to join us on an intensive, short-term consultancy project (2-3 weeks) to work directly with our CSO off-site. In this role, you will lead the planning and construction of genetic constructs in microorganisms (bacteria and/or yeast), directly contributing to our innovative drug discovery programs. Key Responsibilities:

• Advise and collaborate with the CSO on the design and optimization of genetic constructs in microbial systems.
• Develop strategies for efficient gene assembly and expression in bacteria and yeast.
• Oversee experimental design and troubleshooting during construct development.
• Provide expert insights and recommendations to ensure alignment with project goals and industry best practices.
• Assist in integrating genetic engineering outcomes with broader drug discovery initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

• Advanced Degree: PhD or Master’s in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Expertise in Genetic Engineering: Proven experience designing and building genetic constructs in bacteria and/or yeast.
• Technical Proficiency: Skilled in molecular cloning techniques, gene synthesis, and modern genetic engineering tools (e.g., CRISPR, Golden Gate Assembly).
• Innovative Problem Solver: Ability to troubleshoot complex genetic engineering challenges and develop creative solutions.
• Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of effectively advising and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for Drug Discovery: Demonstrated interest in leveraging molecular biology for novel drug discovery programs, particularly those focused on natural sources.
