Software Engineering Internship - Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System (Raanana, Israel)

Job Summary

The Red Hat Engineering RHIVOS-Functional Safety team is looking for an intern with some experience in Python to join us in Raanana, Israel. In this role, you will work with a group of talented software engineers and contributors across the globe. You’ll work on new features and address existing defects and bugs in an assigned project. You’ll also expand, automate, and streamline our build and release pipeline using modern technologies like containerization and microservices. This long-term internship will give you the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about Red Hat’s business and the open source culture.

RHIVOS is a strategic program which aligns to our Corporate Objective to Extend Red Hat to Cloud Services and Edge. It leverages a lot of the expertise we have with RHEL, but also has/will have its own specific components, features, lifecycle, sales, support and content set models etc.

Functional Safety Certification we are trying to achieve as a team is a key pillar of the program which will also be the key differentiator of RHIVOS compared to our competitors.

The intern is expected to join other talented engineers in the team, participate in Agile ceremonies and pick up tasks from the shared pool. They'll gain knowledge and insights about RHEL, general operating system, low level components, development lifecycle, CI/CD as well as expertise of coding with python, bash(and maybe c) etc.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Implement validators using Python by analysing RHEL(Linux) functions/APIs
• Develop interactive Dashboard features using Python,Reactjs, postgresql and patternfly.
• Develop internal tools in Python to test and automate the productization process
• Participate in upstream communities
• Contribute to data modeling and data distribution techniques to optimize storage for data analysis
• Cooperate with other engineers as needed
  
  

Required Skills

• Experience programming in Python
• Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) infrastructure
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Prior participation in open source software projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Must be enrolled in an accredited university program in Israel during the whole duration of the internship and eligible to begin a full-time role in 2026 or 2027
• Must be available for the internship from May 2025 till April 2026
