Job Summary

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum is seeking an Afghan national for the post of Senior Specialist of Mining Exploration. The Senior Specialist of Mining Exploration is responsible for implementing and developing training programs to enhance professional capacity building in the areas of exploration, prospection, sampling, analysis of samples, and estimation of mineral resources for technical and professional employees in the center and provinces.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identifying the training needs of professional staff in various fields of geology, mineral exploration, and prospection, including drilling and excavation methods, and mining equipment.
• Proficiency with the programs of prospection, exploration, sampling, analysis of samples, and estimation of mineral resources (3D modeling) and all relevant mining sections.
• Manage, design, and implement technical plans and procedures to achieve program tasks and objectives.
• Proficiency in preparing three-dimensional (3D) maps of mineral bodies based on their location in the Earth's layer.
• Cooperation and relationships with research institutions, universities, and international organizations to develop knowledge in mining exploration.
• Research experience including quantitative and qualitative analysis and proficiency with the methods of mining research and its publication in national and international journals.
• Proficiency with modeling, design, and stabilization software for mining resources such as (Datamine), (Micromine), (MineSight), (Surpace).
• Managing administrative resources within specified limits.
• Contribute to strategy development and its implementation across the entire administration or its implementation in the relevant department.
• Making decisions, planning, and finding solutions to various challenges.
• Ability to prepare and organize a strategy for administration and be responsible for managing human resources, and technical areas
  
  

Management & Coordination tasks

• Training management skills to mining technical staff to manage exploration projects, including planning resource allocation and monitoring project progress.
• Training professional staff on monitoring the quality of exploration operations and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data obtained.
• Effective evaluation of the training courses conducted by distributing questionnaires to the dispatched professional staff and fully addressing their responses.
• Cooperate in coordination with scientific and research institutions to transfer new mining information and share it with professional employees.
• Conducting regular and effective training programs in the field of mining (geology, exploration, sampling, sample analysis) for employees of the central and provincial directorates of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in order to raise the level of modern mining knowledge.
• Ensuring the implementation of training programs and distribution of educational materials to raise the level of awareness of technical staff with high standards developed at the center and provinces.

• At Least a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Mining Exploration (PhD Preferred).
• Seven years of work experience required for a Bachelor's degree and five years for a Master's degree in relevant fields.
• Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English languages.
• Computer skills (MS Office and job-related software).
• Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate a high level of motivation, good communication, hardworking and interpersonal skills.
