We are seeking an experienced and proactive Polarion ALM Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for establishing and supporting the Polarion Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) system, ensuring optimal system performance, and assisting users in maximizing its tools. Additionally, the candidate will focus on supporting the transition from IBM DOORS to Polarion, ensuring a smooth migration for teams working in DOORS to the modern integrated tools of Polarion. The role involves close collaboration with systems engineers, project managers, development teams, quality assurance personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the transition and ongoing usage of Polarion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transition Support from DOORS to Polarion:
- Lead and support the migration process from IBM DOORS to Polarion, ensuring old data is accurately and orderly transferred to Polarion.
- Analyze and map data from DOORS to Polarion format while maintaining the proper structure of requirements, links, traceability, and tests during the transition.
- Work closely with project teams to define and implement migration strategies, minimizing disruptions and maintaining data integrity.
- Provide tools, scripts, and support to accelerate the data transfer process and the transformation of information from DOORS to Polarion.
- Troubleshoot data consistency or compatibility issues that may arise during the transition process.
- Offer post-migration support to ensure that transferred data is properly defined and organized in Polarion, facilitating a smooth transition for teams to the new tools.
- Configuration and Customization of the System:
- Configure and customize Polarion to meet the specific needs of projects and teams, including modifications to workflows, permissions, and templates.
- Assist in defining and assigning roles, permissions, and access control within the system.
- Validate dashboards, reports, and widgets to provide tailored insights for specific business needs.
- User Training and Support:
- Conduct training sessions for new and existing users to help them understand Polarion's capabilities and best practices for effective usage.
- Create user documentation, guides, and video tutorials for various uses, emphasizing the transition from DOORS to Polarion.
- Perform individualized or group training sessions to understand specific user needs, particularly focusing on changes and new capabilities after the transition.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide daily support for Polarion users, including addressing technical issues, configuration problems, and system outages.
- Assist in identifying and resolving integration issues between Polarion and other tools such as Azure DevOps and Quality Center.
- Offer solutions for performance issues within the system and ensure an efficient environment for users.
- Integration and Data Migration:
- Facilitate the integration of Polarion with other development management and project management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Quality Center).
- Support data migration between different ALM tools while maintaining continuity and minimizing disruptions during projects.
- System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Conduct regular health checks, monitor server performance, and ensure that the Polarion environment operates smoothly.
- Assist with updates, bug fixes, and upgrades to keep Polarion updated with the latest features and improvements.
- Monitor system logs to identify potential issues and troubleshoot in real-time.
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their requirements and propose solutions within Polarion that enhance collaboration and traceability.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that guide team and project progress, quality metrics, and other KPIs.
- Coordinate communication between technical teams and users to ensure that the tool's usage is aligned and beneficial.
- Compliance and Traceability:
- Assist teams in creating and maintaining traceability between requirements, design, testing, and implementation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in supporting and managing Polarion ALM or similar Application Lifecycle Management tools.
- Experience working with IBM DOORS and familiarity with data structures, workflows, and system constraints.
- In-depth understanding of software development processes, including requirements management, testing management, version control, and continuous integration.
- Practical experience with configuration, customization, and troubleshooting of lifecycle management tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify solutions quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including user documentation and training creation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Certification in Polarion ALM or related tools.
- Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Groovy, or other scripting languages).
- Knowledge of database management and SQL queries.
- Familiarity with DevOps processes and integration tools.
