Role: Senior Backend Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems using Python and Django. You will work closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to build high-performance applications. Your expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, databases (MySQL, MongoDB), and Azure cloud platform (Azure App Service) will be key in delivering robust and secure backend solutions.

Responsibilities:

Backend Development & Architecture
• Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend solutions using Python and Django.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL APIs for seamless communication between frontend and backend services.
• Implement best practices for code quality, security, and performance optimization.

Database Management
• Design and manage relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Write efficient queries, optimize database performance, and ensure data integrity.
• Implement database migrations and version control using Django ORM.

Containerization & Deployment
• Develop and manage Dockerized applications for seamless deployment and scaling.
• Work with Azure App Service for cloud-based application hosting and management.
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers for CI/CD pipeline automation and infrastructure improvements.

System Integration & Scalability
• Ensure smooth integration of backend services with third-party APIs and external systems.
• Optimize application performance for scalability and high availability.
• Implement caching mechanisms and load balancing for improved system efficiency.

Security & Compliance
• Implement authentication & authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, etc.).
• Apply security best practices to protect APIs and data from vulnerabilities.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2 where applicable.

Collaboration & Mentorship
• Work closely with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to define technical requirements.
• Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best coding practices.
• Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning and retrospectives.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years of backend development experience with Python and Django.
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and Microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, MySQL, MongoDB, and Azure App Service.
• Knowledge of message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) is a plus.
• Experience in scalability, load balancing, and API performance tuning.
