Job Description

The Branch Cashier is responsible for handling cash transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring smooth cash flow at the branch. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to financial policies, and excellent customer service skills to assist clients with loan disbursements, repayments, and deposits.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Cash Management & Transactions: licenced
• Receive and disburse cash for loan repayments, withdrawals, and deposits.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions and update the system accordingly.
• Ensure that all cash handling procedures comply with company policies and regulations.
• Verify authenticity of currency notes and detect fraudulent transactions.
• Financial Record Keeping:
• Maintain proper documentation of all financial transactions and receipts.
• Reconcile daily cash balances and prepare reports for the Branch Manager.
• Ensure timely submission of financial reports to the finance department.
• Customer Service & Client Assistance:
• Assist clients with loan repayments and provide receipts for transactions.
• Answer client inquiries regarding account balances, transactions, and financial policies.
• Guide clients on how to complete necessary forms and documentation.
• Risk Management & Compliance:
  

Adhere to all cash handling protocols and security measures.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, microfinance regulations, and audit requirements.

Immediately report any discrepancies, errors, or suspicious activities to management.

• Support to Branch Operations:
• Assist in maintaining office supplies and ensuring the proper functioning of cash-handling equipment.
• Provide support in loan disbursement and collection processes when required.
• Coordinate with other staff to ensure smooth daily branch operations.
  
  

Key Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 1 years of experience as a cashier, teller, or finance assistant in a microfinance institution, bank, or financial service provider.
• Experience in handling cash transactions, financial reconciliation, and customer service.

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle cash securely and prevent fraud.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
