Chemistry Technician – R&D Laboratory

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Chemistry Technician to support our R&D laboratory with the appropriate background to support R&D and pilot projects. The main responsibilities of an engineering scientist comprise conducting experiments as per the defined R&D plan, preparing chemical formulations, and analyzing materials. The ideal candidate will assist scientists in developing and testing new products, maintaining lab equipment & chemical storage as per ISO requirements, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and conduct laboratory experiments, including mixing, testing, and analyzing chemical formulations.
• Assist in the development of new materials, coatings, or chemical products as part of the R&D team.
• Knowledge & coordination of analytical testing using instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, XRF, UV-Vis, DSC, and TGA.
• Maintain accurate lab records, data logs, and technical reports.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment as needed.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to improve processes and optimize formulations.
• Participate in quality control tests and report any inconsistencies or issues.
• Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and safety protocols at all times.
• Assist in the preparation of samples for internal and external testing.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Experience: 3 – 5 years of laboratory experience (preferred in R&D or industrial chemistry).
• Familiarity with analytical techniques and laboratory equipment.
• Strong understanding of chemical safety, SDS, and handling procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive mindset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic data analysis software.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with organic chemistry, coatings, composites, or nanomaterials and polymers ( a plus).
• Knowledge of formulation chemistry, surface chemistry, or material testing.
• Hands-on experience with PVD, UV curing, or high-temperature resistance coatings is a plus.
