Job Description
Psychosocial Counselor role is providing mental health support to the women, girls and youths through counselling services in the clinic and communities. Psychosocial Counselor will be responsible for conducting individual and group therapy, providing psychological assessments, and supporting mental health education programs. These positions report directly to the Deputy Head of Project and will work closely with other team members to ensure the psychological wellbeing of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of Psychosocial counselling for women who referred by Psychiatrist doctor or they referred directly.
- Female psychosocial counsellors will provide psychosocial support to women who are eligible based on WHO standards.
- Provide individual and group psychological support and therapy to women and children.
- Conduct mental health assessments and evaluations.
- Develop and implement mental health awareness programs and workshops.
- Collaborate with the team to address the psychological needs of clients.
- Maintain confidential client records and documentation.
- Assist in organizing outreach activities focused on mental health education.
- Provide reports on cases and interventions when required.
- Work with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
- Complete 1-2 years psychosocial counseling course of MoPH.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychological counseling or therapy, ideally in a non-profit or NGO setting or BPHS.
- Experience working with vulnerable women and children is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams and clients.
- Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all cases.
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, English is a plus.
