Backend Engineer - Team Lead

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Team Lead to head our Tel Aviv engineering team, working on the cutting edge of Large Language Model (LLM) technology. This role is perfect for a skilled engineer proficient in Python, scalable system architecture, and Kubernetes, with a strong foundation in AI-driven backend solutions.

As a leader, you'll drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and manage a diverse, bilingual team (English & Hebrew), fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Strong interpersonal skills are critical, as you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable and reliable AI-powered backend systems.

• Lead a team of backend engineers to design, develop, and scale high-performance backend services primarily in Python.
• Define and drive architectural decisions for large-scale, AI-driven systems, with a focus on LLM-powered solutions.
• Oversee Kubernetes infrastructure, ensuring robust deployments, monitoring, and system reliability.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend teams, DevOps, and AI researchers to build scalable AI-driven applications.
• Mentor and coach engineers, conducting code reviews, fostering growth, and maintaining high engineering standards.
• Contribute to technical roadmap planning and execution, especially in the domain of LLM integration and AI infrastructure.
• Identify and proactively address performance bottlenecks, security risks, and system improvements.
• Manage a diverse team and ensure smooth communication in both English and Hebrew.

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years in a team lead or senior role.
• Expert proficiency in Python.
• Extensive experience designing scalable system architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Strong understanding of microservices, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Experience working with LLMs, AI-driven applications, or machine learning infrastructure.
• Proven leadership and mentorship abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience managing diverse teams in English & Hebrew.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• Experience in AI/ML production environments and MLOps best practices.
