As a Quality and Reliability Student Intern, you will support the Quality and Reliability Engineering (QRE) team in ensuring the reliability and robustness of semiconductor products through testing, analysis, and validation processes. You will work closely with experienced engineers to evaluate failure mechanisms, optimize manufacturing processes, and improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in reliability testing and qualification of semiconductor devices, including stress tests like HTOL (High-Temperature Operating Life), ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), and TC (Thermal Cycling).
- Support failure analysis (FA) by collecting and analysing data on defects, degradation, and performance variations.
- Work with cross-functional teams to investigate and identify root causes of failures and propose corrective actions.
- Assist in developing and improving quality control processes for chip manufacturing and packaging.
- Support statistical data analysis using tools like JMP, Minitab, or Python to assess reliability trends and performance.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of quality documentation, reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Help validate new materials, process changes, and design modifications for reliability impact.
- Collaborate with the design, test, and process engineering teams to ensure adherence to reliability standards.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field with at least 4 semesters until graduation.
- Ability to work 20 hours weekly.
- Basic understanding of semiconductor physics, failure mechanisms, and reliability testing.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, Python, MATLAB).
- Familiarity with failure analysis techniques such as SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), FIB (Focused Ion Beam), or X-ray inspection is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment.
- Good communication skills for presenting findings and writing reports.
- Hands-on experience with industry-standard reliability testing and failure analysis techniques.
- Exposure to cutting-edge chip design and semiconductor manufacturing.
