Call for Tenure-Track Faculty Position – focus on Aerodynamics/Aeronautics/Fluid Dynamics

The School of Mechanical Engineering (ME) in the Faculty of Engineering at Tel-Aviv University, Israel, invites exceptional faculty candidates to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at all levels, commensurate with qualifications.  

The School of ME is committed to outstanding research and teaching. Our research and teaching areas cover the broad field of mechanical engineering, including solid and fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, sustainable energy, environmental engineering, biomechanics, mechanical systems and design methodologies, robotics and autonomous systems. The school has 28 full-time faculty, 16 active emeritus faculty, 20 external lecturers from the industry and national research institutes, and 20 post-doctoral researchers. The growing student body comprises about 1000 students, of which 650 are undergraduates and 350 are MS or PhD graduates. This call focuses on the head of experimental aerodynamics laboratory with four wind tunnels, including 3'x2'x20m tunnel with an extremely low turbulence of 0.04% and a precision-made flat plate to be used for the understanding of turbulent boundary layers, and relation to instabilities that could lead to the control of skin friction and separation, the two-stream mixing layer tunnel that has heating elements at the entry of one of the streams can be used for investigating the validity of Reynolds-analogy between eddy viscosity and thermal diffusivity for a turbulent Prandtl number equal to 1, a 3x2 closed loop tunnel was used for active flow control on wings and UCAVs, and an open environmental wind tunnel. Qualifications: Candidates with a strong background in relevant areas of Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related fields are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD, and post-doctoral research experience abroad is strongly encouraged. The successful applicant will be expected to provide high-quality teaching and to develop an externally funded innovative research program.
