Role Overview

As an Applied Researcher at Wisery Labs, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI solutions. You will work on state-of-the-art research in machine learning, NLP, and LLMs while ensuring our AI-driven products are robust, scalable, and impactful. Your contributions will bridge the gap between research and production, working closely with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and product managers.

This role can be full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate's availability and expertise.

Responsibilities

• Research, prototype, and develop cutting-edge Gen AI solutions in areas such as Autonomous Planning, Hidden Pattern Detection, and Advanced Information Retrieval.
• Conduct applied research in ML, NLP, LLMs, and deep learning to improve business outcomes and product capabilities.
• Build and integrate AI models into scalable production systems, ensuring performance, robustness, and compliance with business requirements.
• Lead experiments, develop benchmarks, and analyze model performance to optimize deployed solutions.
• Design and maintain scalable ML pipelines and infrastructure, optimizing for efficiency, deployment, and operational stability.
• Stay updated on advancements in AI, ML, NLP, and LLMs, and contribute to the company’s AI strategy.
• Effectively communicate research findings, technical insights, and business impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PhD or current PhD student in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, NLP, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in applied AI research, machine learning, or NLP, with direct contributions to product development.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with expertise in AI/ML development best practices including data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Proficiency in modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face Transformers.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, SQL databases, and MongoDB for building and maintaining production AI systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate research into tangible business outcomes.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong background in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Experience developing AI-driven document processing, question-answering systems, or conversational AI applications.
• Knowledge of knowledge graphs, GraphRAG, and multi-modal AI models.
• Publications or patents in top-tier AI/ML conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, CVPR, etc.).
• Prior experience in analytics or working in a company specializing in fusion systems.
• Background from an intelligence unit.
