About AWEC

AWEC is a non-political, non-profit, woman-headed national organization established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad and eventually Peshawar, in Pakistan. AWEC has always been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising for women and children’s rights while providing services to those who frequently fall through safety nets. In recent years, one of AWEC’s core activities has been to support women through mobilizing Afghans, from local communities to political elites, towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating violence against women.

Job Description

AWEC is looking for a motivated IT Intern to support our team in Kabul. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates who want to develop their skills in IT while contributing to meaningful work in Afghanistan.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues for staff.
• Assist in the maintenance IT systems, networks, and databases to ensure optimal performance.
• Support the management and maintenance of office equipment, including printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
• Assist the IT team in managing and maintaining IT assets, including inventory tracking, documentation, and lifecycle management
• Assist in the implementation and management of data backup and recovery processes to ensure data security and integrity.
• Assist in organizing and archiving older AWEC data in compliance with IT policies and procedures
• Collaborate with the IT team to document IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Assist in the installation and configuration of new software and hardware systems.
• Support cybersecurity efforts by monitoring systems for vulnerabilities and assisting in the implementation of security measures.
  
  

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of IT systems, networks, and software applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Windows OS, and basic networking concepts is preferred.
