Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VP R&D Manager with expertise in Terahertz (THz) technology, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for very low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) environments, and embedded systems development. This role involves managing multidisciplinary projects that integrate software, hardware, and firmware, driving innovation, and delivering high-performance solutions from concept to production. The ideal candidate will combine technical acumen with strong leadership abilities to lead teams, manage complex projects, and optimize system-level integration.
Key Responsibilities:
R&D Leadership:
Define and lead the execution of advanced R&D initiatives focused on THz technology and low-SNR DSP applications.
Develop and oversee a comprehensive R&D roadmap, integrating software, hardware, and firmware components to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Embedded Systems Development:
Lead the design and development of embedded systems, including firmware and real-time software for THz and DSP platforms.
Ensure seamless integration of embedded systems with hardware and software, optimizing performance and reliability.
Stay updated on advancements in microcontrollers, FPGAs, and embedded operating systems to apply cutting-edge solutions.
Software Development:
Oversee the design, development, and optimization of algorithms and application-level software for THz and DSP systems.
Implement advanced signal processing techniques, leveraging machine learning and AI where applicable.
Manage software development cycles, including coding, testing, debugging, and deployment.
Hardware Design and Integration:
Collaborate with hardware teams to design and optimize circuits, sensors, and THz systems for low-SNR performance.
Drive innovation in PCB design, sensor integration, and system architecture to enhance signal acquisition and processing.
Ensure robust hardware-software interfacing for seamless system-level functionality.
DSP Optimization:
Design and implement sophisticated DSP algorithms for noise reduction, signal enhancement, and feature extraction in low-SNR conditions.
Perform simulations, prototyping, and testing to validate and refine DSP solutions.
Leverage tools like MATLAB, Python, or C++ for algorithm development and system modeling.
Project and Process Management:
Manage the full lifecycle of R&D projects, including SRR, PDR, CDR, risk assessment, and design reviews.
Develop robust workflows that integrate hardware, software, and firmware development cycles.
Oversee project budgets, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Quality and Compliance:
Implement quality management systems (e-QMS) tailored to multidisciplinary R&D efforts.
Ensure all products comply with relevant regulatory standards.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers specializing in software, hardware, firmware, and DSP.
Foster a collaborative and innovative environment, encouraging cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing.
Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners.
Innovation and Thought Leadership:
Stay ahead of technological advancements in THz, DSP, and embedded systems to guide R&D strategy.
Represent the organization in technical forums, conferences, and scientific publications.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field (PhD preferred).
Proven experience in R&D management with a focus on THz, DSP, and embedded systems.
Strong expertise in software development, hardware design, and firmware/embedded system integration.
Advanced knowledge of DSP algorithms for low-SNR environments, including noise reduction, signal detection, and enhancement techniques.
Hands-on experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, FPGAs, and real-time operating systems.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and MATLAB.
Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary projects from concept to production.
Familiarity with quality systems and regulatory standards, including ISO 13485.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
