Regional Director- Africa

Contract Type: Full-Time. H The position is opened as HQ based (Israeli citizens or holders of work visa in Israel), or remote global professionals. The position requires 25% travel to Humanitarian missions, conferences and work-related gatherings

Purpose

The Regional Director (RD) serves as the highest direct management line within IsraAID's regional structure. The RD serves as the strategic leader and visionary for the region, responsible for setting the overall direction and priorities for the Country Offices (COs) in alignment with the organization's global mission and strategy. Their role focuses on high-level oversight, regional strategy development, external representation, and resource mobilization to strengthen the organization's presence and impact across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Regional Vision

• Develop and implement comprehensive regional strategies aligned with IsraAID's global priorities
• Guide COs in designing and implementing their country-specific strategies
• Contribute to IsraAID’s global strategies and workplans
• Shape and execute departmental workplans and policies

Country Office Support and Oversight

• Provide mentoring and capacity-building support to country representatives
• Ensure each CO has necessary tools, knowledge, and guidance
• Regular engagement with CO leaders to address challenges
• Foster environment of collaboration and shared learning

Team Management and Matrix Leadership

• Lead and manage regional team including HQ desk staff and country directors
• Coordinate efforts across region through matrix management structure
• Work closely with HQ departments to ensure alignment
• Advance cross-regional collaboration and knowledge sharing

Program Quality and Operational Excellence

• Ensure high-quality programming across all COs
• Oversee programmatic progress and financial performance
• Monitor operational compliance and risk management
• Direct strategic improvements and innovations

External Relations and Partnerships

• Build and maintain partnerships with institutional donors
• Represent IsraAID at key regional forums
• Increase IsraAID’s humanitarian footprint within the region
• Develop strategic partnerships to enhance regional impact

Resource Mobilization

• Identify funding gaps and opportunities
• Collaborate with DevComms on funding strategies
• Lead donor engagement and relationship management within the region
• Secure sustainable funding for regional and country programs

Communication and Liaison

• Act as critical link between HQ and COs
• Ensure effective two-way communication
• Convey CO concerns and needs to HQ leadership
• Communicate HQ priorities to CO teams

Advocacy and Representation:

· Represent the organization with integrity and professionalism, fostering strong relationships, and advancing our mission through active participation in regional and international forums, networks, and strategic partnerships.

· Any other tasks as set by line management

Qualifications

• Master's degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field
• Above 15 years of progressive management experience , with at least 2-3 positions (2) CD in larger CO + Deputy RD/ regional responsibilities that covers at least 3 countries (over 7Y)
• Demonstrated success in strategic planning and implementation
• Strong diplomatic and partnership-building capabilities
• Excellence in team leadership and matrix management
• Cultural sensitivity and work experience across different cultures and diverse groups
• Proficiency in English; additional regional languages advantageous
