Contract Type: The position is opened as HQ based (Israeli citizens or holders of work visa in Israel), or remote global professionals.
The position requires 25% travel to Humanitarian missions, conferences and work-related gatherings

Classification: Mid-Level Leadership Role
Purpose
The Deputy Regional Director (DRD) is a strategic and operational leader, working in close collaboration with the Regional Director to translate the organization’s vision into action. They provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to Country Offices (COs), ensuring operational excellence, programmatic impact, and alignment with regional and global priorities. Acting as a key representative of the organization, the DRD strengthens the organization's presence in regional networks and forums, fostering partnerships that enhance visibility and resource mobilization, while strongly leading and supporting the COs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Operational &Programmatic Regional Leadership:
- Leading the execution of regional strategies, workplans, and programs with a focus on achieving impactful, sustainable, and high-quality outcomes.
- Oversee implementation of regional projects
- Ensure CO plans are linked and aligned with global/regional strategies
- Supporting the Regional Director in representing the organization in regional forums, networks, and strategic partnerships, advocating for the organization’s mission and goals.
Support to Country Offices (COs):
- Providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Country Directors (CDs) in their operationalization of their workplans to ensure effectiveness and deliver results.
- Monitor and evaluate program
- Manage compliance requirements and operational efficiency
Team Coordination and Capacity Building:
- Facilitating cross-country collaboration, addressing capacity gaps, and enhancing the skills of regional and country-level staff.
- Translate strategic directives from HQ to ground-level implementation
- Maintain regular communication with CO leadership
- Ensure effective team collaboration by supporting the coordination between HQ departments, regional teams and CO
- Manage personnel issues and staffing needs
Program Quality, Compliance and Accountability:
- Overseeing and guiding CO in the development and implementation of their programmatic portfolio to ensure alignment with strategic priorities, measurable impact, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Implement risk management frameworks
- Identify and address operational risks
- Support M&E processes to ensure robust data collection, analysis and reporting
Acting Country Director Responsibilities
- Provide interim leadership when CO gaps exist
- Ensure continuity of operations during transitions
- Support COs during management changes
- Maintain program momentum during gaps
Advocacy and Representation:
- Represent the organization with integrity and professionalism, fostering strong relationships, and advancing our mission through active participation in regional and international forums, networks, and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred in International Development, Social Sciences, business administration or related field
- Minimum 10 years of progressive management experience with at least 2 CD positions of larger missions OR 1 large with various other Sr. programmatic management positions in several countries
- Strong operational management and leadership abilities
- Excellence in problem-solving and risk management
- Proficiency in English; additional languages an asset
