Director of Software Engineering

We are seeking a seasoned Software Manager to join our expanding team and lead a vital development group. This role combines hands-on technical skills with managerial duties. The right candidate will be an adept architect and leader, passionate about coding, and eager to bring their technical and managerial expertise to the forefront.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a team of software and QA engineers while contributing to our rapid growth phase.
• Lead and oversee complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Establish and uphold software engineering standards and processes across the group.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop team members.
• Design software architecture with a focus on scalability, flexibility, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product Management to plan and prioritize tasks based on risk assessments, timelines, and external commitments.
• Work alongside various teams, including Algorithm and System teams.
• Foster open communication within the team and build trusting relationships to drive performance.
• Report directly to the Vice President of R&D.
  
  

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in Software Engineering, preferably within startup environments.
• Over 4 years of experience in leading large engineering teams.
• Strong background in backend technologies, including Python, Docker, AWS-based systems, Kubernetes, SQL, and NoSQL databases, and message queues.
• Experience in developing multi-threading/tasking applications.
• Proficiency in designing scalable and highly available systems.
• Experience in continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) environments.
• Expertise with test frameworks and test-driven development.
• Fluent in English.
  
  

• Experience with computer vision systems and AI-driven products.
• Familiarity with video systems, such as video streaming and media servers.
• Experience with technologies like GitLab, InfluxDB, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, PyTorch, and AWS services like SQS, CloudFront, Lambda, and EKS.
