Senior Buyer

Description

The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for purchasing and managing CM (contract manufacturing) functions associated with metal, plastic, PCBA, sub-assembly, and sub-turnkey products. Manage inventory quantities and keep abreast of changes affecting the supply and demand for needed products and materials. Engage with vendors to maintain competitive pricing and the highest quality of goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for following procedures within the company’s quality system per ISO 13485 requirements and other applicable international standards.
• Setup and maintain purchasing item attributes.
• Purchase materials and supplies that align with production rates and sales requirements.
• Work closely with vendors to stay on top of expedited delivery dates and delivery date changes.
• Updates vendor performance, maintain vendor relationships, negotiate purchasing terms, establish blanket order agreements, keep track of vendor stocking initiatives, maintain vendor profile, update vendor lead time changes.
• Properly obtain competitive quotations from a targeted list of potential suppliers based on a sound understanding of AVL, warehouse space, and seaonality.
• Continually evaluate cost and delivery performance to identify opportunities to pursue alternative sources for supplies ensuring high quality, low cost, and reliable delivery.
• Identify purchasing process inefficiencies and opportunities to streamline the overall procurement system and demand forecast.
• Responsible for components custom release
• Key suppliers KPI managment– OTD, Quality Compliance, Cost Competitiveness, Lead Time etc.Performs additional duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills with an emphasis on phone skills are a must
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills related to uncovering root causes of problems and identifying actionable solutions
• Attention to detail, project management ability, and professionalism
• Resourcefulness and flexibility to adjust to a changing work environment, competing priorities, frequent changes, delays, and unexpected events
• Able to work independently as well as in a group environment
• Proficient computer skills, working with various office equipment, various programs including Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in related field and/or 6+ years combined Planning and/or Purchasing experience, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred

• APICS Certification (Preferred)
• Import/Export related experience preferred
