We are seeking a talented and visionary VP of R&D to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving the company’s technical vision, managing multiple R&D teams, and fostering seamless collaboration across departments. This leadership position requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong interpersonal skills.
You will report directly to the CEO and help guide the company’s product development and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the R&D department in alignment with overall business goals and strategy.
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to high-level discussions and decision-making.
- Own the R&D development strategy, ensuring alignment with the product roadmap and long-term organizational objectives.
- Represent the voice of the R&D team in all leadership forums, ensuring their needs, challenges, and contributions are heard.
Product Development
- Collaborate with the VP of Product and other leadership to influence the product vision and architecture.
- Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from planning and design to testing and successful product releases.
- Oversee the development of our complex no-code platform, ensuring scalability, robustness, and usability.
- Champion product quality through rigorous testing, documentation, and optimization processes.
- Ensure all technical decisions support both the short-term product goals and long-term strategic objectives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build and nurture effective cross-functional partnerships with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams.
- Align technical development with business goals, ensuring smooth and efficient collaboration across departments.
- Foster a culture of transparency and understanding by clearly communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Team Growth & Management
- Build, mentor, and manage high-performing R&D teams across both short-term sprints and long-term projects.
- Attract, hire, onboard, and retain top-tier engineering talent, developing a team that thrives in an innovative and dynamic environment.
- Create a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning within the R&D department.
- Provide regular coaching and feedback to ensure team members grow both personally and professionally.
- Enforce engineering standards, ensuring enterprise-grade product delivery with a focus on code quality and development best practices.
Execution & Impact
- Be execution-driven with a "can-do" approach, helping your teams achieve both tactical and strategic goals.
- Ensure the successful and timely delivery of high-quality products, driving continuous improvements and scaling the platform to meet future needs.
- Develop and track key performance metrics for the R&D department to measure success and progress.
Requirements:
- A degree in Computer Science or an equivalent (mandatory).
- Hands-on experience with Agile development procedures.
- Proven experience in the SaaS industry, with an understanding of key SaaS business metrics (mandatory).
- Minimum of 10 years of technical experience, with at least 8+ years in a leadership role within a startup or tech company.
- Deep expertise in software architecture and development.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to motivate and inspire a team, driving high performance and fostering a culture of collaboration.
