About the position:

Salt is looking for a Director to lead our Application Engineering group, the core driver of Salt’s success, as it delivers most of the value to our customers.

Our team consists of highly experienced, motivated, and innovative problem-solvers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are great people to work with.

We tackle big data and stream processing at a massive scale, with growing challenges as customer usage expands. This includes on-prem data collection, traffic aggregation from multiple sources, and parameterization for further processing.

What will you do:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
• Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Develop and execute the technical roadmap, making strategic decisions on architecture, technology stack, and product enhancements.
• Drive the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions on schedule.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to team leads and engineers, promoting best practices in software development.
• Act as a liaison between engineering, other cross-functional teams, and executive leadership.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, advocating for agile methodologies, automation, and optimization.
• Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a diverse and inclusive team.

Requirements:

• Proven experience (3+ years) in a leadership role within software engineering, preferably as a Director or Group Leader.
• Startup experience, demonstrating the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong background in developing and delivering enterprise software solutions.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Scala, Java, or Go.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Cybersecurity experience - an advantage!
