Software Development Team Leader

GenCell is seeking an ambitious and dynamic Development Team Leader to lead the company's customer-facing software (GEMS) development within our Customer Success department. In this role, you will take part in innovative ideas and development of the GenCell Energy Management Software suite, spearhead future software initiatives, and elevate the EVOX software development by addressing challenges and resolving complex issues. This position is pivotal in leading our software development efforts and integrating our systems with customers' networks and third-party SCADA/EMS/DERMS systems. This full-time position is based in Israel and reports to the VP of Customer Success. 

Responsibilities 

Project Management and Leadership

• Guide software development teams through coaching sessions and mentorship. 
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high quality. 
• Collaborate with project managers to align project requirements and deliverables. 
• Establish and maintain development principles and best practices. 
• Conduct feasibility studies and develop working prototypes, including simulation, calculations, and schematics. 
• Plan, troubleshoot, and resolve complex energy integration projects. 

Technical Oversight: 

• Provide hands-on support in coding, testing, and debugging. 
• Conduct peer reviews and ensure high standards through unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration. 
• Maintain knowledge of current technical solutions and contribute at the code level. 

Communication and Collaboration: 

• Act as the primary point of contact for technical integration, conducting feasibility evaluations. 
• Work directly with customers to determine requirements and explain technical approaches. 
• Documentation and Reporting: 
• Write high-level technical documentation in English. 
• Create and maintain project documentation, including technical specifications, project event logs, and risk assessments. 
• Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders. 

Requirements: 

Technical Skills: 

• Proficiency in industrial communications protocols (e.g., MODBUS, MQTT, SNMP, DNP3), and integration with 3rd party services via APIs. 
• Well experienced with management solutions for Fleet, SCADA, EMS, and IoT cloud services. 
• Knowledgeable of IT/OT networks and security (e.g., IP routing, firewall, proxy, VPN, etc..). 
• Proven experience with Linux/IT skills (Devops, sysadmin, shell scripts). 
• Familiarity with power systems (DC/AC systems, energy generation and storage). 

Must have skills: 

• Expert developer in: Node JS, Typescript. 
• Experienced in: C++, React, CSS, and unit testing frameworks. 
• Expert with Linux DevOps, Git, Docker, deployment and configuration management tools. 
• Knowledgeable in databases (SQLite, Timeseries), reporting, analysis and BI. 
• Experience working with industrial computing standards and requirements. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science or another related field. 
• Excellent spoken and written English. 
• Experience in a start-up environment is advantageous.
