Director of Deep Learning

We are a growing startup seeking a talented Director of Deep Learning to enhance our deep learning capabilities.

The ideal candidate should be self-driven, motivated, and independent, passionate about using data and machine learning to drive business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement cutting-edge deep learning models and algorithms for demand forecasting applications.

- Conduct research and experiments to identify and evaluate new approaches for improving model accuracy and performance.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data engineers, and software developers, to deploy and maintain machine learning systems in production.

- Mentor and train junior team members, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

- Communicate technical findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders, including executives and other decision-makers.

Qualifications:

Must-Have:

- 10-15+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, with at least 5 years focused on deep learning techniques.

- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field; a Ph.D. is preferable.

- 5 years of demonstrated experience in a leadership or management role.

- Extensive experience applying deep learning and machine learning techniques across at least three domains: finance/trading, computer vision, tabular-based models, time series analysis, large language models (LLMs), audio processing, and reinforcement learning.

- Proficiency in both PyTorch and TensorFlow.

- Strong understanding of machine learning systems in production, including best coding practices for testing, reproducibility, and version control.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have:

- Published papers, patents, or professional contributions.

- Experience with MLOps and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Dagster.

- Strong data visualization and analysis skills.

- Knowledge of code optimization, cloud computing, containerization, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

- Experience in competitive programming and data science (e.g., Kaggle).
